Mt. Manalmon sidetrip at Bayukbok Cave

I thought for the 1st week of September there would be no any invitational climb, So I did promise a college friend of mine that I will come to his invitation, he invited me to come and watch mix martial arts fight, It is called Pacific Xtreme Combat or PXC, It is just like UFC. I should have been a great opportunity for me to watch it live I'm also avid fan of UFC but suddenly sir Freddie text me if I can come to Mt. Manalmon I didn't  see this coming, It took me one night to think and about it, but because I have an aim that I will climb 12 mountains before this year end. I decided to join at Mt. Manalmon for me to see also the mysterious they're talking about that mountain and to experience spelunking. This climb supposedly  should be a solo climb for sir Mon but sir Freddie and he talked about it so it turned out to be a group trek, they invited others to come and I was part of it. Sir Mon texted me if I can come without hesitation I told him yes.

At the ES Transport we decided to our meeting place located at the Edsa Cubao Quezon City.15 participants we were all in all at 0900H we left manila heading San Miguel Bulacan and from there we headed Sitio Madlum at 1430H it took us a while because we also looked  a jeepney that we could rent for us to take there and will fetch us also. Approximately 700Php was the said price for oneway but will also depend on the deal.

Our first activity was we tried the monkey bridge, but because I don't know how to swim, I didn't bother to do it so, for my safety at the same time, We never also experience the zipline because the cable was loose. 1450H  we started the trek and the rain pour but the good thing is the campsite was near, It would  only take us less than an hour but because the trail was muddy and slippery it took us more than hour. When we reached the campsite it was almost occupied, but we are also still lucky because there is still space near at the nipa hut of our guide kuya Bogie and there we stayed and prepared our food. There was also a source of water where we could wash our dishes and could we use for our cooking,

You can cross Madlum river at the other side by two options the Balsa or Monkey Bridge

Bamboo rafting / Balsa

Muddy Trail

Our Guide Kuya Bogie

We crossed a stream connected to Madlum river

When it was the time for the social we introduced ourselves because two groups joined together. The other group was invited by sir Mon BP and other group was invited by sir Freddie.

Day 2: Assault to summit

God heard my prayers, I saw the spectacular view, the madlum river and the other mountains that you can see from the summit.

SIDETRIP AT BAYUKBOK CAVE

It was my first time to do spelunking I feel nervous and I don't have any idea how dangerous it is, luckily my buddy ma'am Weng she was second time in that cave, she gave some tips what to do. We have 2 guides kuya Bogie and his younger brother, Before we starts they gave some instructions not to do like avoid holding vines that can cause of falling rocks inside the cave. The first highlight of the Bayukbok cave was the rappelling and then we crawl at the small hole to get inside the "music room" and if you tap the stones it create a good sounds It's like a music instrument, the last challenge for me was the ladder you need to hold on tight because there is a portion of the stair is slippery. It's almost 2 hours we finished the spelunking at Bayukbok cave. Tips don't bring unnecessary things.

What to wear:

Shoes/Sandals
Headlamp
Helmet for caving (optional)
gloves (optional)

Madlum is second best adventure I experienced, after Sagada. Madlum is a great place for extreme adventure, my favorite in Madlum is rappelling, then spelunking in their cave. Hoping to comeback again to explore more caves.
